NW Sickle Cell Camp was founded in 1993. At Camp children have an opportunity to experience a variety of activities such as boating, arts and crafts, bicycle riding, hiking, fishing and being outdoors under the direction of health care professionals knowledgeable about Sickle Cell Disease and treatment issues. Camp has also given our children the opportunity to develop relationships, talk about their experiences, ask questions, and learn more about Sickle Cell Disease.
Though camp is currently free to all campers it costs $23K to operate the summer camp program, which equates to $575 per child. Please donate through this link to PayPal and contribute to this valuable opportunity for our children.

Become a Camp Counselor
We are making the deadline for applications earlier so we know we have the staff before we start recruiting campers.
We have 14 staff spots available, so get your application in early for full consideration. It is possible we will have more applications than we have positions and will have to make some decisions about who will be on staff.
We are asking that people, who apply to be counselors, be available for the full time of the camp. It is difficult on the campers to have supervision that changes during camp. Please plan your schedules to be at camp from Friday until Monday noon if you wish to be a counselor.
We will have staff training on Friday, August 11th at 8:30 am. Please mark your calendars. Campers arrive the afternoon of August 11th and leave at lunch time of August 14th. Camp will end around lunch time on Monday, the 14th of August.
If you are a first time volunteer, please complete all parts of the application AND distribute three copies of the reference form for people to complete and return to me. I need to receive the reference forms for your application to be considered complete.
First time volunteer applicants can expect a phone call from camp staff to go over expectations and requirements and make sure things are a ‘good fit’.
If you have any questions, please call Melanie Barnes at (253) 403-4823
